How to Measure a Gate?
At Create a Gate, our wooden gates are easy to make at home. Follow this simple guide on how to measure your gate using our Wall Baton Kits.
Step-By-Step Guide on How to Measure a Single Gate Using Wall Baton Kit 1
If you require a single gate plus 2 wall batons eg: 2 x 40mm depth = 80mm
- Measure your opening (wall to wall or post), measuring the top, middle and bottom. The smallest measurement is the one you want, for example 960mm
- Add the wall baton total 80mm + Clearence 20mm = 100mm
- Subtract 100mm from 960 mm(ope) = 860mm
- Adjust to your required width
- Choose a Create A Gate that fits this measurement, in this example it would be either A1, A900TGV or Castle Range 900
- For Wall Baton Kit 2 subtract this from opening measurement: 2 x 70mm =140mm + Clearence 20mm = 160 mm
Step-By-Step Guide on How to Measure Double Gates Using Wall Baton Kit 1
If you require a Double gate plus 2 wall batons eg:2 x 40mm depth = 80mm
- Measure your opening (wall to wall or post), measuring the top, middle and bottom. The smallest measurement is the one you want for example 1840mm
- Add the wall baton total 80mm + Clearance 30mm = 110mm
- Subtract 110mm from 1840 mm(ope) = 1740mm
- Choose a Create A Gate that fits this measurement, in this case either A3, A1800TGV or Castle Range 1800
- For Wall Baton Kit 2 subtract this from opening measurement: 2 x 70mm =140mm + Clearence 30mm = 170
For best results first hang your wall batons, then remeasure the opening, subtract the clearance* and adjust the gate(s) to fit.
